Retaining walls must be carefully designed and installed to withstand the pressure of the soil, which is why we always follow manufacturers’ specifications, making sure to backfill with gravel (not soil) and install a geogrid when necessary. In addition, we always consider drainage to be sure that water is diverted around the wall and drains are buried at the wall’s base.

Then, we compact the sub-base and base to be sure that they won’t settle after the project is completed. After that, we use polymeric sand from Techniseal to fill the gaps between the stones. It will not wash out, and it will prevent weeds and bugs from burrowing in the sand. In southern Missouri, polymeric sand lasts about five years before needing to be refreshed. We also use wet, dry, and color-enhancing finishes from Techniseal to protect our paver patios.
